Observatory Hill

Digital Panoramic Photograph

This is one of my favourite views in Greenwich Park, 50m east and down the slope from where tourists and locks flock to admire and photograph the stunning views over London.

One of the things that makes Greenwich Park such a beautiful and intriguing place its hilly terrain. I have employed one of the most satisfyingly curved slopes in this work to lead your eye across the frame and down into the view beyond.

From left to right:

General Wolf’s Statue (erected 1930),  Great Equatorial Building (built 1893), Flamsteed House (built 1676),  The Queen’s House (built 1636) and Royal Maritime Museum  (formerly Greenwich Hospital – built 1692), Canary Wharf (1990) and Greenwich Power Station (built 1906 and still in use today).
