Supporting Plot 9

After funding the project for the first few years, the project is happily now self-sustaining thanks to donations (from facilitators and local supporters) and organisational funders (e.g. Royal Borough of Greenwich).

To date, I’ve given my time to the project on a voluntary basis – desinging, building and running the space without taking any finanacial payment. The rewards have been many though – the joy of building the space and watching it come to life, participating in countless wonderful events and meeting some fantastic people along the way.

Some examples of how your donation will be spent:

• Tools for gardening and construction
• Timber, fabrics, and other materials (for when salvaged materials aren’t suitable)
• On Plot 9’s website and events database
• Firewood, teas, coffee, loo roll, lamp oil, etc.
• Subsiding events to keep ticket prices as low as possible for paid events
• Plants (both edible and ornamental)
• Rent (thankfully very low)
• Insurance

Donation Guide for your Event

I’ve often been asked for a guide to how much to donate for hosting your event so below are suggested amounts (obviously feel free to contribute more if you’d like to help accelerate the improvements, especially if you are a larger organisation)

For gatherings of <10 people: First hour: £24, following hours: £12
For gatherings of 10 to 20 people: First hour: £34, following hours: £17
For gatherings 21 to 30 people: First hour £44, following hours: £22
For gatherings 31+ people: First hour £54, following hours: £27

Firewood: £6 per hour

It’s important to state that my main priority is that the plot gets used as much as possible. So please just chat to me if in any doubt and we’ll find a way of making your event work!

As things get busier, I am looking ahead to ways to fund a venue manager to support the long-term viability of the project (so I can get away occasionaly!). Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Upcoming projects include:

• Community Greenhouse (made from reclaimed windows)
• Two new ‘snug-style’ seating areas (one in the new Open Parachute Space and one in the Seated Parachute Space)
• Plumbing and filtrations to provide a reliable drinking water supply to the plot. DONE
• Solar Power Sytem for lighting around pathways and area lighting for the shelter, parachute spaces and kitchen. FUNDED
• More storage – clearly labelled storage on all three levels so any users of the plot can quickly find what they need
• Wood-working and crafts workshop area. DONE
• Improved signage outsite the plot DONE
• Top-soil and grass-seed for the new Open Parachute Space DONE
