Westcombe Owl

Pencil sketch, 2020

First of a series of sketches inspired by the wildlife living in and around Greenwich. I live near Westcombe Woodlands and during the winter months on most evenings the air echos with the evocative sounds of a pair of tawny owls, transporting you away from the city in an instant. This is the first sketch I’ve done in years. I did no research on the style, it just bubbled to the surface as I cast my eye over the initial form I drew.
