Forget The Slopes – Series

Digital Photographs, Series

We had a tradition of taking the whole team away on a trip every year at my production company Inition. One year we went skiing at the Haute Savoie resort of Avoriaz in France. I became fascinated by the flocks of Alpine Choughs that circled the building where we were staying. I decided to take a day away from face-planting the slopes to photograph these beautiful birds whose black feathers contrasted starkly with the snowy landscape.

It was one of those days where I was completely absorbed in what I was doing. My entire purpose and focus were on achieving the ‘perfect’ photo of my subject. This series shows my favourites from that day, which turned out to be my most enjoyable of the trip. The abstract forms made by the slow-shutter in the second image reminded me of shots of dancers I’d seen.
